DIY Pom-Pom Tree

I love Christmas trees!

The thought of stringing lights and hanging ornaments makes me giddy. I have always had a mini Christmas tree sitting on my desk during Christmas time, however, after getting it from the basement this year I realized the mini ornaments weren't going to cut it. 

Yes, it was cute, but it just wasn't my style. I found the perfect solution while walking through Joanns one night- POM-POMS! Eep! I couldn't wait to string my mini tree with pom-poms galore. It turned out so cute, so I'm sharing it today.

All that I used for this DIY was 3 rolls of red, white, and green pom-pom trim and a mini tree that I had already owned.

After gathering my supplies, I just wrapped and wrapped until I was happy with the final product. And let me be the first to tell you, I loved it in the end! It looked darling and I rushed it upstairs to its new home on my desk. 

I just can't wait for Christmas! I'm finding it hard to believe it's only 10 days way. Wow! I hope you all have a very merry Christmas. Soon I should have a present for all of you ;)))

Snow Cone Garland

While searching through Pinterest last week I stumbled upon the most adorable pin I had ever seen. I immediately clicked on it and the link took me to Ez's Blog- Creature Comfort. I fell in love! I knew from then on that I would have to make this adorable snow cone garland- and share it with you!

This was surprisingly easy to do and I am in love with the end product!

You will need all the supplies seen above, plus some toothpicks or skewers and the template below. Also, you can use any type of glitter- or none at all! It doesn't make a difference. I ended up not using any glitter because the glitter flakes seen above didn't look like I wanted them to.

Now to start take your Styrofoam balls (I found mine at Joanns in a pack of 12) and paint them any colors that you would like! This is where you may want to use toothpicks so it is easier to paint and you don't end up looking like a Smurf with blue hands. If you are adding glitter this is the time when you should sprinkle on the glitter and what not.

  

Wahoo! On to the cutting of your template. I used this template from template maker, but you can really use any template and depending on the size Styrofoam balls you get you may have to adjust- but it's all good! You want to print out the template on a good, thick piece of card stock or whatever you have lying around your house and cut, cut, cut. Then to save ink,  I just traced the rest and cut all those out as well.

After you have cut you can fold them up and, using your hot glue gun, glue the cones together. Let everything dry- including your Styrofoam balls- before moving on. Now take one of the cones you just made and add hot glue to the inside edge. Quickly take one of the Styrofoam balls and put it in the cone, pressing where it meets up with the hot glue. Repeat for all the cones you made.

  

All that is left to do is string them all together! Taking the twine and possibly a ruler, see how far apart you want your snow cones to be. (Remember to leave room on the twine to hang) Once you've decided spacing, take a cute little cone and make a hot glue dot on the top and press the twine in to it. Be careful with this step!!!!!*** You don't want to burn your fingers! Continue to glue the snow cones to the twine until you are all finished. Now all that's left is to obsess over the cuteness and possibly use for your next snow cone stand. Or just hang it tree, or your room.

Whatever you end up doing with it, this fun little garland is perfect for the end of summer and looks so sweet! (pun intended) I hope you are all having a great summer! Thanks again to Ez for her amazing idea- it is just so fun!!

DIY Phone Charger Update

Phone chargers are something that I think don't get that much attention. We use them everyday and basically rely on them to make sure that our phones are being charged. Well, I thought that it would be cute to update my phone charger with only ONE material. The only thing that you need to make an adorable update to your phone charger is washi tape.

I'm so obsessed with washi tape! These are just a fraction of my collection!

So all you have to do is take your phone charger and line up the washi tape with the edge of the charger and carefully wrap the tape around until it meets the tape. Then you can just cut it off. You may have to make another row, depending on the width of your tape (for the chevron charger I made I had to do a second row). If you do have to make another row, just line it up depending on design and wrap it around. Next just tape a very small piece and wrap it around the part that you plug into your phone. And voila! It's that simple! 

Depending on the tape you buy, this project may only cost 2-3 dollars. Washi tape can also be found in most craft stores (like Joanns or Michaels) and there are also some different ones at target. Not only that, but you can find different etsy stores that sell it and some of the patterns are absolutely to die for. Swoon. My friends have already commented on it and want me to wrap theirs too!

DIY Free Binder Printables

Everyone loves a good binder cover- so I decided to make my own- and they are super fun!

These gems are completely made by myself (and totally cute). And not only that but they are free to use for my readers! They come in either blue (like above) or a light pink.

All you have to do to get your own monogram is download the blank version and then open up a photo editor- anyone works fine! I used photoshop, but before I had that you would see me repping for Microsoft Word any day. (just use word art) Find a font that you love and add your initials (fLm) Resize to your liking and print- that easy!
**The font I used for this is available for FREE download at Dafont.com- its just called Monogram.
